Where this series started

You said it in the comments.

"Key West in the 70s and 80s was rustic and affordable… Now it's lost its soul."
Viewer, Key West video
"Beautiful there but certainly not worth what the hotels are charging."
Viewer, Key West video
"I had no idea about the water situation."
Viewer, Palm Springs video

The books answer all three. What happened, where to go now, and what to check first.

From the channel

The warning signs were public first.

More than 230,000 views on the channel's first three videos, in its first 11 days.

Key West, Florida

Voters said no. The state said yes.

In 2020, about 60% or more of voters approved each of three limits on cruise ships. In 2021 the state legislature overruled them.

Watch the Key West video
Palm Springs, California

Too many homes became hotels.

In 2022 the city capped vacation rentals at 20% of homes in each neighborhood. Ten neighborhoods were already over the cap.

Watch the Palm Springs video
Lake Havasu, Arizona

The river it depends on is running low.

In August 2026, Lake Mead upstream fell to its lowest level since it was filled in 1937.

This isn't for you if

  • You want a glossy hotel-and-restaurant guide
  • You want investment or legal advice. This is research, not that.
  • You want someone to promise a town will never change
